Goodchilds comments were apparently in reaction to McLeod’s persistent efforts to obtain EVERY email written or received by Palin or her husband in any email account during her time as Governor. The process of screening emails and removing classified information has continued to be a drain on State time and resources and one that the State continues to work on to this day.
The ever biased Anchorage Daily News “reporter" refers to Andree McLeod as a “citizen activist.” Referring to McLeod in this manner is akin to calling President Obama a “moderate democrat.” She has done all that she can to harass Governor Palin since the day Palin returned from the Vice Presidential trail in 2008.
The “reporter” goes on to “report” that,
“Eight days later, a gunman attempted to assassinate U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords during a Saturday public gathering in Tucson, Ariz. Six bystanders were killed and Giffords was shot through the head. Giffords, a Democrat facing a Palin-backed tea-party candidate, had worried about the consequences of Palin's depiction of cross hairs on a map of her district.”
But concludes with,
“Then, after being sworn in, Goodchild added: "I apologize for what I wrote. I did not realize that it could be interpreted into some action like what happened in Arizona and so therefore if she feels that she needs to go on, she can. I am not a threat to her, I feel apologetic for saying that."
The continued bias by the Lame Stream Media, especially the liberal Alaskan media, attempting to tie Governor Palin to the unfortunate Tuscon shooting on January 8th, is a travesty. The Tuscon shooter, Jared Loughner, held very liberal political beliefs. It was not these political beliefs that led to his decision to shoot that day, however. He clearly was suffering from some type of mental illness. To claim that his actions that day were politically motivated in anyway, by either side of the political aisle, is absurd. It takes minimal research to see that this young man was clearly disturbed.
The continued meme about Palin's use of 'crosshairs" is also getting old. For starters, the symbols are surveyor symbols. Anyone who has ever used a gun can tell you that they are clearly not "crosshairs." Secondly, I do not hear anyone linking liberals for their use of crosshairs to the Tuscon shooting, or any other form of violence.
While the words spoken by Ms. Goodchilds appear to be out of frustration at the endless harassment Ms. McLeod has engaged in within the state of Alaska over the past several years, which we the tax payers have footed most of the bill for, most Alaskans who support Governor Palin do not agree with her threats. It is frustrating that Andree McLeod has been so demanding of State resources that would be better used elsewhere. It has been frustrating watching her play out her personal vendetta against the Palin family in the national spotlight. She may use up a lot of oxygen. Thankfully, our State, which is rich in resources, has plenty of clean oxygen to go around.
Alaskans4Palin would like to make clear that we denounce all forms of threats on free speech for all people on all sides of the political aisle. The beauty of our Republic is that we are free to express ourselves and should have the freedom to do so without fear of harm.
