"Choosing The Stars": Governor Palin’s Speech At The Reagan 100 Freedom Dinner

Governor Sarah Palin addressed dinner guests at the Reagan Ranch Center in Santa Barbara, California on February 4, 2011 as the keynote speaker for the Young America's Foundation Reagan 100 Celebration. I got a little misty eyed as I watched it live. For a precious hour it was 'Morning in America' again! An oasis in the Obama desert. This was as “presidential” a speech as you will ever see.

Note at the beginning of her speech where Sarah describes riding on the same trails that Ronald Reagan had cleared. Sarah is doing that politically now: Following in Reagan's footsteps.

"There isn't one replacement for Reagan, but there are millions who believe in the great ideas that he espoused," Governor Palin told her audience. "There is a whole army of patriotic Davids out there across this great country ready to stand up and to speak out in defense of Liberty, and these Davids aren’t afraid to tell Goliath, ‘Don't Tread On Me!'”

In this one statement, Sarah gives ownership of America to those in whom it rightly belongs. It's up to us. Last night she said there would never be another Reagan. But just as Reagan did, "We The People" must fight for Conservative values, principles and personal responsibility. That is how we all can honor Reagan.

Sarah continued: "He (Reagan) saw our nation at a critical turning point. We could choose one direction or the other: Socialism, or freedom and free markets; Collectivism or individualism. In his words we could choose the swamp or the stars."

It took a Carter to get a Reagan. Both Reagan and Sarah Palin credit the love, spirit, and greatness of America to its people, not to themselves. Both Ronald Reagan and Sarah Palin place their trust in people, created in the image of God, guided by Constitutionally guaranteed freedom, to excel. Real leaders give authority and credit to the people who are actually in charge of getting things done. Sarah leads with the understanding that people yearn for the freedom to lead themselves. She provides a springboard and a rallying cry from which American Patriots can move ahead if they so choose.

They're not comfortable with her because Sarah is not a member of the establishment. “The irony,” according to Lee Edwards, a Reagan biographer and fellow at the Heritage Foundation, “is that neither was Reagan.” President Reagan would be proud of Sarah Palin!

“I must admit it was an impressive speech. The first I have heard her give since she accepted the VP nomination, only much better. Reaganesque even.” - (Follow this link to read the entire article from Georgetown Law Professor Randy Barnett)

Some highlights from Governor Palin's speech -

"As an Alaskan I proudly consider myself a western conservative in the spirit of Ronald Reagan...He refused to sit down and be silent as our liberties were eroding by an out-of-control centralized government that over-taxed and over-reached in utter disregard to our Constitutional limits."

"President Reagan said that you can't be for big government, big taxes, big bureaucracy and still be for the little guy."

"In the words of the left, American exceptionalism is 'exceptionally big government.'"

"History has proven again and again that when government picks the winners and losers, we're stuck with the losers."

"The stimulus didn't stimulate anything but a tea party."

"Last November, 'We the People' rose up and decisively rejected big government. We don't want it! We can't afford it! Enough is enough!"

(On 'green jobs') "This is not an economic policy. Its not an energy policy. This is diversion and this is social engineering. This is not the road to national greatness - This is the road to ruin. Its 'crony' capitalism on steroids."

"I'm in favor of a sound, all-of-the-above approach to energy independence."

"Put faith in God, not government."

I am an Alaskan. I stand with Sarah Palin!

Gov. Sarah Palin Speaking At The Reagan Ranch On The 40th President's 100th Birthday Celebration

We can't be broke...we still have plastic!

That old joke is one that my family and I often repeat when dealing with financial matters that may force us into more debt than we can comfortably handle. The truth is that my family works hard to avoid too much debt. And once you’ve tasted the freedom of living without that burden, you never want to go back. It’s not an easy path, but it is genuinely worthwhile.

Our country is now facing the harsh reality of too much debt. It’s purely Economics 101 to say that we need to cut up the credit cards and stop spending the money we don’t have. Rather than continue down the path of borrowing and taxation, (thankfully) there is an unprecedented attempt to cut spending and ban earmarks within the budget.

Alaskans know that earmarks have been our lifeblood since statehood. We are probably more addicted to this type of federal largess than any other state in the nation. It has built our infrastructure, taken care of our remote villages and brought a modern lifestyle to our cities. Senator Stevens’ political power was responsible for bringing home much of the money, and he was a major force in our development. He helped take Alaska from an impoverished territory to a vibrant and thriving state.

But that was then. This is now.

You will never hear me criticize Ted Stevens for his contribution to Alaska, but the promise to continue earmarks is in part how Lisa Murkowski won re-election last fall. She based her campaign on Stevens’ legacy and the deep-seated addiction that Alaskans have to the federal dollar.

Now we are seeing the beginnings of anxiety in the Alaska media and among the political elites as the money pipeline from Washington D.C. goes dry. Alaska is not alone. The whole nation will feel this pain.

Times have changed. The people of Alaska must grow up and stand on our own. We have the ability to do it. Alaskans pride themselves on their independence and self-sufficiency. It’s time to prove it.

Gimme A Waiver!

It must be really easy to get an Obama waiver, about as easy as taking a number at your local butcher shop and waiting your turn in line. That is, if you're an "Obamabud." The Obama administration is currently handing out waivers to the healthcare law. Already, 773 businesses and organizations, 650 of which are unions, have received one. We all know the role unions played in his election.

Now we learn that a California power plant venture using General Electric turbines has been exempted from the new EPA greenhouse gas emission regulations. GE CEO Jeffrey Immelt is Obama’s new jobs commission czar, as noted in this HotAir article. My favorite goody is this one:

The Obama administration seems very eager to impose regulation on everyone except their bestest buddies. If these policies are so bad that Obama’s friends and political allies need waivers to get around them, then perhaps they shouldn’t be in place at all.

Seems to me they hit the nail on the head, huh? Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Obama's lawyers are busy dealing with other issues - mainly yesterday's deadly blow (by the stroke of a pen mind you) by Florida Federal Judge Roger Vinson to Obamacare. Obama's attorneys were trying to using the commerce clause to support their grounds for the legality of this recent piece of legislation. The commerce clause gives Congress the power to regulate interstate commerce, of which insurance falls under. Please see this quote from The Wall Street Journal article "The Nuts and Bolts of the ObamaCare Ruling":

Judge Vinson rejected this argument, recognizing that "not consuming" other products, such as food, is also unavoidable and can have substantial effects on other commercial markets. "There is quite literally no decision that, in the natural course of events, does not have an economic impact of some sort," he wrote. "The decisions of whether and when (or not) to buy a house, a car, a television, a dinner, or even a morning cup of coffee also have a financial impact that—when aggregated with similar economic decisions—affect the price of that particular product or service and have a substantial effect on interstate commerce."

Maybe, Obama's attorneys need to go back to law school, brush up a bit. Or maybe, they should just have listened to Sarah Palin in the first place. This is detailed in another article from The Wall Street Journal titled "'Death Panels' Revisited":

It would have been a lot harder had ObamaCare enjoyed wide political support. But it did not and does not. Americans never bought the bill of goods that Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and their supporters in the formerly mainstream media tried to sell. A good deal of the credit goes to Sarah Palin, for coining the phrase "death panel" in an August 2009 Facebook post.

You think maybe they'll start listening to her now? Let's all line up - what would YOU like a waiver for?

"Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammunition!" (MY "ammunition" is "The Word")

I had to chuckle over an editorial ("Lamestream Media Due For A Palinoscopy") that I read in the Anchorage Daily News, or as I like to call it, Anchorage Daily Nonsense. It was written by Rudy Wittshirk of Willow, Alaska who bemoans the media’s obsession over Sarah Palin. While managing to hit on a few “truths,” it was mostly a rambling rant that took aim not only at the media, but Sarah and her supporters as well.

I do have to give him credit, though. He did get a couple things right concerning the media. Not only did he manage to call them out on their blatant involvement in the political system, but he called attention to their single-minded mania of all things Sarah. He even questioned the Alaska Disparage…oops...Dispatch on a survey they conducted on whether or not to report on Sarah in February. Then there was his comment about “other writers are writing about the fact that they are writing too much about Sarah.”  That one made me laugh! Who knew that lefty’s had a sense of humor?

Of course, I’m assuming he is a lefty. Perhaps it was his repeated references to “right-wing religionists” that convinced me he couldn’t be anything else.

While Rudy doesn’t claim to love or hate Sarah Palin, he does take every opportunity to slam her faith with illogical conclusions that can only come from one who resides on the Godless Left. Take his claim that “Sarah’s secular and material gun-worship seems to directly contradict her stated faith in divine, all-powerful providence. Without guns she seems spiritually powerless---like so many right-wing religionists, her 'faith' is weak when it lacks earthly weaponry.”

For one, Sarah’s support of the Second Amendment does not make her a “gun-worshipper.” Like most Alaskans (and Americans) who value their guns, it is used as a tool for hunting. I doubt that God has a problem with people using their guns to put food on the table the same way our ancestors did before the advent of grocery stores on every corner. Everyone knows that wild game is leaner and healthier than the meat you buy in the store. Plus, Sarah’s support of the right to bear arms does not contradict Biblical or Constitutional Law. There is no evidence in the Bible to support that claim.

The second part of Rudy’s statement that “without guns she seems spiritually powerless…her faith… weak when it lacks earthly weaponry” is further evidence the Godless Left have no qualms in using Biblical terminology to their advantage. Never mind that they fail to study the Bible in honesty and with a repentant heart. Instead, Rudy twists it to fit his needs. The following Bible passage from Ephesians 6:11-18 would seem to be where he came up with his “weapon”:

“Use all the armor and weaponry that God provides, so that you will be able to stand against the deceptive tactics of the Adversary. For we are not struggling against human beings, but against the rulers, authorities and cosmic powers governing this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realm.  So take up every piece of war equipment God provides; so that when the evil day comes, you will be able to resist; and when the battle is won, you will be standing.  Therefore, stand! Have the belt of truth buckled around your waist, put on righteousness for a breastplate, and wear on your feet the readiness that comes from the Good News of peace.  Always carry the shield of trust, with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the Evil One. And take the helmet of deliverance; along with the sword given by the Spirit, that is, the Word of God; as you pray at all times, with all kinds of prayers and requests, in the Spirit, vigilantly and persistently, for all God’s people.”1

Pure and simple, this is a flat out spiritual attack on Sarah by the enemy. It is an attempt not only to discredit her in the physical world but to undermine her in the spiritual world. This attack did not come from Rudy Wittshirk. This attack came from the pit of hell. Only the enemy of our souls would want people to question the authenticity of the faith of Sarah Palin. This is further proof that not only does she have the favor of God, but the enemy knows her to be the threat that she is to the Godless in our government.

This attack is further evidenced by Rudy’s mocking of her supporters, claiming that they are waiting for “divine” miracles while he calls Sarah a religious fanatic who has been “divinely chosen for… the fulfillment of certain religious imperatives.”

This is not about religion. This is about the war being waged between good and evil. This is a call to those who are sitting on the fence trying to determine what side they are going to be on. You can listen to Rudy and others like him, believing the lies and the hate against Sarah Palin and other believers in Jesus Christ; or you can take a stand against the vile, hateful rhetoric coming from the left and refuse to give them the credibility they are so desperately seeking.

Rudy’s article was written to ridicule the media for their obsession with Sarah Palin, but it reveals his own fixation as well. He claims to be ambivalent toward her, that he doesn’t hate or love her. But if that were the case, then why does he mock and deride her and her supporters? It seems to me that perhaps Rudy needs to take a closer look at his own motives.

At the end of his article he says, “And there is no need to apologize for writing about Sarah---only for doing so badly.”

So Rudy, what is your excuse?

Is Hate a Necessary Evil?

I’d like to take a moment to thank all the “haters” out there. If it weren’t for you, Sarah would not be as popular or well known as she is today. If there hadn’t been so many frivolous ethics complaints, Sarah would have never resigned and she would have had to wait until she finished her term to write a book. With all those years passing after her bid for Vice President, she would have had a difficult time finding a publisher. Yes, her popularity would have dwindled and she probably would have quietly returned to running our great state. The “haters” through an ironic twist of fate, seem to fuel her fire instead of extinguishing it.

The darkness of hatred has played a role in bringing out light of hope. Our country has a silent majority that has been silent for too long. It may have been complacency or perhaps people were just too busy working and providing for their families. The past two years have given us a real wake-up call. This is where I thank the President for motivating the conservatives throughout the nation. Because of his leadership, the silent majority is no longer silent. The liberal media outlets have been losing subscribers. They have silenced us repeatedly when we tried to submit editorials supporting conservative candidates. Luckily for us, we have the Internet. Is this the part of this article where I should thank Al Gore? Is this why our current President wants a “Kill Switch” for the Internet? Would that be an “Internet Death Panel”?

Bottom line is the negative stories get more airtime than positive stories. There are many positive stories out there waiting to be told about Sarah Palin. If you can’t find an avenue to deliver them, make your own road! That’s what we’re doing here.

Feb 1, 2009 - Governor Palin Expresses Concerns on Economic Stimulus While in D.C.

Two years ago today, Governor Palin's office issued a statement expressing concerns about the Economic Stimulus Package (ie: The Porkulous Bill). In this statement, Governor Palin discussed many troubling elements in the stimulus package. These included provisions that punished Alaska for forward-funding education, the mass transit funding formula that will limit Alaska opportunities but will pour money into other states, and the "shovel-ready" criteria for projects that northern climates might not be able to accommodate consistently due to the shortened construction season. As President Obama later confessed, there were NO "shovel-ready" projects.

Below is the full text of Governor Palin's statement (found at Freerepublic.com):

“Alaska and other states need to be treated fairly,” Governor Palin said. “Much of the stimulus plan we’ve seen focuses on spending for government programs that would be a burden on states to continue funding, and doesn’t focus enough on spending that actually does put people back to work and stimulate the economy. Working with our D.C. staff, I took advantage of the opportunity to speak with Democrats and Republicans to voice my concerns. I appreciate their time and assistance in paying attention to our state.”

Governor Palin discussed troubling elements in the stimulus package including provisions that punish Alaska for forward-funding education, the mass transit funding formula that will limit Alaska opportunities but will pour money into other states, and the “shovel-ready” criteria for projects that northern climates might not be able to accommodate consistently due to the shortened construction season.

The governor continues to express concerns first identified in a Jan. 7 letter to the Alaska congressional delegation about the overall level of spending and the hugely increased deficit our nation is growing. Under the legislation, the U.S. would continue sending money to OPEC nations even as it continues to borrow and miss opportunities to develop domestic supplies of energy.

“Worst of all, the stimulus package rewards states for not planning when it comes to prioritizing for things like education, as Alaska has planned ahead by forward-funding 21 percent of our General Fund dollars for this very important priority,” said Palin. “It appears only those states that did not plan ahead with education will benefit. States like Alaska should not be punished for being responsible; yet that’s what the plan means for Alaska right now.”

The governor has asked the nation’s leaders to look at these issues to ensure fairness in the stimulus package and that the package does not harm the long-term fiscal health of the nation. Contrary to some news reports, she looks forward to continuing to work with Alaska’s congressional delegation to accomplish the state’s goals.

In 2009, Sarah Palin outlined concerns over the stimulus package which can be seen in this news video clip

"Mr. Caribou, maybe you need to take one for the team."

This was one of Governor Palin’s statements during her talk to the Annual Safari Club International Convention in Reno over the weekend. She was speaking specifically about ANWR, energy independence, and the claim that wildlife populations will be irreparably harmed by oil extraction underneath the Refuge.

As Alaskans, we’ve heard all the arguments for locking up ANWR. Over time, many of the concerns have evolved into less-than-rational fears: The tundra will become an oil slick, wither and die. Then the caribou who feed on the tundra will die. Or the caribou migrations and calving grounds will be harmed and the caribou herds will decline.

Meanwhile, caribou populations in the circumpolar north are stable despite decades of oil extraction. The herd sizes constantly increase and decrease through natural processes and predation, all without human intervention. Of the almost 20 million acres that comprise ANWR, the land required for oil extraction would be approximately 2,000 acres (1/10,000). And goodness knows the mosquito population would be safe from harm no matter what activity took place in the refuge!

By the way, within the last few years the Alaska congressional delegation proposed directional drilling underneath ANWR from adjacent state lands. No harm would be caused to ANWR land or wildlife. The proposal was soundly rejected. In this case, the hypocrisy of the ‘protecting wildlife’ argument is obvious.

The frustration for many long-time Alaskans is that we are treated like squatters in our own state. The federal government owns 65% of Alaska lands. Native corporations and the State of Alaska share the remaining acreage. Private ownership of land is an embarrassingly small percentage. But rest assured, if native corporations, the state or private interests take it upon themselves to develop their resource potential, the same environmental groups will be there blocking them in court just has they have done with federal lands such as ANWR. What they can’t legislate, they will litigate.

Governor Palin also stated this weekend that she personally understands the importance of protecting the environment and the need for responsible conservation. There is a big misconception that Alaskans don’t care about our environment. Nothing could be further from the truth. We live here. We work here. We play here. We love Alaska enough to stay here year round during incredibly harsh weather conditions. We, as Alaskans…more than any other Americans can claim…want to keep our state beautiful and environmentally sound. Yet, we aren’t allowed to continue thriving economically with our rich, untapped resources. We aren’t allowed to contribute to American energy independence. We must sit back and watch the Middle East explode in violence and threaten the energy lifeline for our country, knowing all the while that allowing ourselves to be held hostage to oil from foreign countries is an unnecessary and foolish martyrdom.

To revisit Governor Palin’s statements this weekend, she said “If a caribou needs to be sacrificed for the sake of energy independence, I say, ‘Mr. Caribou, maybe you need to take one for the team.’”

Join Us for Reagan/Palin Appreciation Month

UPDATE: Shortly after posting the article below (see ORIGINAL POST), I received this link from Examiner.com explaining further what Reagan/Palin Appreciation Month is all about, and why we're participating. Alaskans4Palin is mentioned in the article. Here is an excerpt:

Tonight, January 31, 2011, only hours away from a media boycott, or blackout of Sarah Palin -- pledged and proposed for all mainstream media by Dana Milbank -- Sarah Palin's volunteer internet army, of nearly 30 major online Palin blogs, is organized and ready to fight back. They are going on offense, launching their own full cyber-throated effort to make certain that Dana Milbank FAILS and Sarah Palin OWNS February.

Organized, with their keyboards poised for a "shock and awe" battle against the proposed liberal Palin black-out, social media warriors intend to push stories about Palin every day for the month of February.

Though Milbank started this war, Sarah Palin's loyal online support groups intend to finish it...

(Continue reading on Examiner.com: Sarah's online army: Warriors 'Going Rogue' vs Milbank's Palin Feb. blackout

ORIGINAL POST: Won't you join other supporters in celebrating the month of February as Reagan/Palin Appreciation Month? Please read this note from Fay of the Sarah Palin Information Blog:

February is the month five of our presidents were born (4 past and 1 future). It also marks the 100th anniversary of President Reagan’s birth. We would celebrate Governor Palin’s and President Reagan’s birthdays anyway, but since the liberal media has called for a Palin moratorium, the authors at the Sarah Palin Information Blog have decided to spearhead a Reagan/Palin Appreciation Month. We want to honor Reagan for his outstanding service to our country, and we want to honor Governor Palin for her accomplishements and for all she continues to do for our country.

President Reagan fought Communism from the time he worked in Hollywood through his years in office and won the Cold War without firing a shot. His famous line, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” will ring through history. America prospered during his Presidency as Reaganomics stimulated the economy, increased employment, and cut taxes and government expenditure. Ronald Reagan’s policies also increased the strength of our military.

Governor Sarah Palin has stood up and spoken out fearlessly in defense of conservative principles and national security when others remained silent, and she has taken the darts and arrows for doing so. And we have seen over an over that she was right. Her tireless efforts during the mid-term elections also helped elect men and women who will represent the American people instead of the establishment. All of her supporters are waiting anxiously in the hope that she will run for President and help lead our country out of the mess the current administration has gotten us into.

During February, as we celebrate President Reagan’s legacy and Governor Palin’s accomplishments, the Palin-friendly blogs that participate in Reagan/Palin Appreciation Month will be ramping up their coverage of all things Sarah Palin in a show of support for Governor Palin. We are asking all Sarah Palin supporters to sign the Reagan/Palin Appreciation Month Proclamation. Palin-friendly blogs that want to participate in this celebration can request to be added as sponsors of the Proclamation by using the Contact Petition Sponsor button on the petition website after signing the Proclamation.

...Let’s get organized to have a great month of celebration for two great Presidents – one who has finished his course and one who is waiting in the wings to bear his torch.

If you'd like to sign the proclamation, you can use the link in the note above, or by clicking on the Reagan/Palin graphic on the right sidebar. Join us in the celebration!

Silent No Longer

After reading some of the comments posted and hearing that there is doubt that Alaskans even support Sarah Palin, I thought I’d try to dispel that myth.

We do exist!

There is a reason or two for the seemingly apparent silence.

First, you must understand that Alaska is a very large state with a small population - approximately 700,000.  About half of the population is concentrated in Anchorage, our biggest city.  This is also where a majority of the liberals seem to reside along with the majority of our biggest news outlets.

Like the rest of the United States, Alaska’s news media is typically liberal.  You will be hard pressed to find unbiased stories about Sarah Palin in our lame stream media.  Forget about having an editorial published in the local papers supporting Sarah or any other conservatives like Joe Miller.   They have also been known to censor conservative comments routinely on their websites.   So, no; you don’t hear us speaking up, even though we have tried.

The rest of the population is scattered in small isolated towns and villages throughout the state, making it difficult for their voices to be heard.  Yes, internet is finally becoming a reality in some of the outlying villages, but it’s not high on the list of priorities when there are other necessities that require more urgent attention – like medical clinics, teachers, law enforcement, and sewer systems.  Soon, we hope to hear from them as well.

Trying to find a good conservative media outlet in Alaska is like trying to find a cactus in the tundra.  That is one of the reasons Alaskans4Palin came into existence.  It is our desire to let the state of Alaska and the rest of the nation know, that as conservatives and supporters of Sarah Palin, we do exist and our voices will not be silenced.

As Alaskans we don’t always do what everyone else thinks we should.   We are a unique people living in a unique state.  We’re an independent-minded people.  We keep to ourselves, and mind our own business.  We think differently.  Conservative Alaskans know Sarah is fully capable of defending herself.  We feel that we don’t necessarily have to address every little negative thing that is said about her.  While it is not our intention to fling mud like the liberals so love to do, it has become overwhelmingly apparent that the lies that are being venomously spread are being believed by those in the lower 49 states, and that needs to be corrected.

So, the time has come to take up arms, (no, not guns, you silly liberals!) the truth, and share it with the rest of the world.  We want to correct the impression that no one in Alaska supports her.  That is just not true.  It's just a lie that Alaskan liberals would like you to believe.  In fact, I believe there are a lot more of us who support her than those who don’t.  The problem is the voices on the left have been louder with plenty of venues to spread their lies, or at least they have been until now.

Sarah Palin: Alaskan Patriot

"In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, brave, hated, and scorned. When his cause succeeds however, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a Patriot."
- Mark Twain

I love Sarah Palin. She is the smartest, most accomplished politician in America and was absolutely the best governor Alaska ever had. Sarah has been a leader in every venue and position since she helped lead the Wasilla Warriors to our state championship.

As our governor, I witnessed Governor Palin stand virtually alone in a sea of corruption and cronyism. She 'whacked' corrupt pols of both parties in Alaska like halibut in her "Sarah Palin's Alaska" Discovery Channel series. She told Exxon to 'fish or cut bait.' She had no fear to stand toe-to-toe with heavyweights and leave them slinking away with their tails between their legs.

She was so squeaky clean and so willing to make sacrifices for the sake of principle that she couldn't be bought, blackmailed, or intimidated. They couldn't beat her so they made up lies about her. But, all the lies, hate, filth, and unprecedented attacks on Sarah and her family, have had absolutely no effect on this wonderful woman’s spirit. If anything, they have only strengthened her resolve. Sarah's honesty eclipses her ambition. She cares more about doing the right thing than she cares about holding onto any political office. Her enemies are terrified of Sarah because she is "us." Sarah Palin is as tenacious as an Alaskan wolverine and as protective of those she serves as a grizzly guarding its cubs.

Living in the Mat-Su Valley, I've witnessed first-hand Sarah's humanity and compassion. She is a good, sweet and gentle soul with a happy, precious spirit. Above anything else Sarah Palin is a decent person. The Valley is filled with the stories of her simple acts of human kindness and generous heart. Stories buried by our Alaskan "Pravda" media. (ie: The Anchorage Daily News and local television) If one could distill Alaska down to its essence, one would come up with Sarah Palin.

Sarah believes in people and speaks for the little guy. She believes in the greatness that "We The People" and our exceptional nation hold. She has faith, not only in the Great Creator but in America. She believes in the American people and our Constitution. She believes that "We The People" know what is best for ourselves, or as Thomas Paine providentially put it, "That government is best which governs least."

Keep going Sarah Palin! Those of us who think with common sense love who you are, what you're doing and all the good you stand for. You're the toughest lady American politics has ever witnessed. I'm one proud Alaskan and a better person for knowing you. You speak for this Alaskan 100% and are a direct reflection of how 80% of America feels.

God bless Sarah Palin and God Bless America!

Welcome to Alaskans4Palin!

Welcome to Alaskans4Palin! We are a group of Alaskan authors who chose to start this page to share with Alaska, and the rest of the world, our unique perspective. Below are initial posts from our authors about why, as Alaskans, they support Sarah Palin. Please take the time to read through all of these few, short posts, then join us on facebook as well! Check back often for interesting articles, commentary, and links about Sarah Palin and issues important to Alaska and the United States!

A True Alaskan Spirit

Out my window, 30mph winds whip across the frozen Chukchi Sea, making the below zero temperatures appear so much colder. Clearing is expected later with a strong winter light show anticipated. A small gathering of caribou is visible in the distance, sheltered along a hillside.

Alaska is wild. It is furious, untamed, and unpredictable. It is intriguing and beautiful. It is for the independent and the strong-willed. Survival up here requires determination and hard work. It means getting dirty, cold, wet, and sometimes bloody. Respect for the land, and for the resources it provides, is crucial. But hidden in its challenges is a mysterious welcoming and familiarity.

Sarah Palin embodies the Alaska I love. She has weathered tough storms all her life and her current storms amongst the most tenacious of the Washington elite are nothing new. She has learned how to tighten her boots, strap on her yaks, duct tape her face and push forward with knowledge that some of the most indescribable beauty lies on the other side of the storm.

She first caught my attention in 2006 when she was running for Governor of the State during a primary debate with John Binkley and Frank Murkowski. Though I knew of her prior to that, I had not paid much attention to her. As I sat in the audience that day watching the debate spiral downward and Binkley and Murkowski bicker like school children, I remember thinking, “All politicians are the same. Isn’t there anyone out there that can stand above this?” Then, in a calm and collected voice, the soon to be Governor interrupted the argument to declare, “You know, you guys, we owe Alaskans a better discourse than this.”

She has continued to provide that better discourse, as our Governor and now as our advocate. She has pushed Alaskan issues into the forefront of National politics. She continues to advocate for us and continues to make it clear that she is first and foremost Alaskan. She is one of us. Part of the Alaska I am proud to call my family.

Many years ago she wrote in a column, “Sometimes I haven't a clue, coming from non-political Chuck Heath, why I remain passionate about wanting to change the world through Alaskan politics...”. Changing the world through Alaskan politics however, is exactly what she has been doing. As she fights for us in Washington, I am proud to fight for her here at home. I am proud to stand beside her, boots tightened and duct tape on, pressing forward with her to a safer and more secure future for our State and for our Nation.

Most Important Reason

Pro life. Those are some pretty descriptive words to describe one that believes in the sanctity of life, especially the unborn. To me one of the most if not thee most important reason as to why I would vote for someone.

My first experience with Sarah was many years ago when I was visiting my parents in the Wasilla Valley. My husband and children and I were stationed in Okinawa, Japan. I had come up for the summer and was attending the 4th of July parade. Half way through, a woman came up to my Dad and said "Hello". She shook his hand and mine and continued on down the road. My Dad turned to me and said "I am voting for that woman for Governor." After telling me why he was putting his support behind her, I too wished from far overseas that this woman would win. I knew she was different. She carried herself with confidence and ease. This woman was pretty special. She would make a difference.

Some people tend to not put much weight in being pro-life. There may be other more important topics at the top of their lists. Not for me.

After moving to Alaska a few years after that experience, I was able to learn more about this woman that would be an icon for the pro-life movement. You see the thing about Sarah is she may preach and tell others what she believes; but she backs it up. With proof. She walks the walk and doesn't just talk the talk.

So many on the left would have you believe that a child in the womb is not a human being. That having an abortion is not only moral but even ethical. Which is so far from reality. The Left teaches that if an unborn child is diagnosed with a disability, or a problem, you can and should abort it's life. How sickening. If a country believes in the right to kill the unborn what does that say for the country as a whole? When the most defenseless of us is not even given the gift of life?

Sarah Palin could say she was pro life, which she was, but to actually have an amazing little guy named Trig, proved she meant it. What an awesome testament of life! That every child no matter what odds are stacked against them deserved to be here. That everyone should be given the opportunity for "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness". How many of you would actually follow through with your pregnancy if you had been told your child would be born with Down Syndrome? Sarah followed through. She gave the most precious gift you can give someone.

In a world right now where to many politicians are saying what they can to get elected, and then get to Washington, and do the opposite, it is so refreshing to see a woman live what she teaches. How blessed Alaska is to have had Sarah's leadership and example. America take care of her, she has your back, every single one of us!

Moments of Realization

Life is full of wonderful moments of realization. Let me share a few I've had with you ...

I came to Alaska several years ago from outside, like so many others, in search of adventure. My great uncle helped explore and map much of this state over 100 years ago, and I was anxious to learn all I could and become a "pioneer." I've always had a different way of looking at things (or so I've been told) and Alaska, with its self sufficient and spirited people, seemed to be my calling. I haven't been disappointed. The Last Frontier is full of hard-working, fiercely independent, good and decent people who seem to be able to filter through all the muck and just get down to the business of doing what needs to be done. Sarah Palin embodies this spirit.

I first learned of Sarah Palin when she was mayor of Wasilla. The office where I worked was buzzing about the woman from Wasilla who was going to run for governor. I was skeptical, because I really didn't know anything about her, but the more I heard the more I liked. She won the gubernatorial race and I was excited for her, the first woman governor for the State of Alaska.

As time went on, there was much talk about the reforms and changes this woman was making. With each new step she took, she became more and more popular with her constituents. She was one of us: A wife, a mother, a daughter, hard-working, a woman of faith. This was someone I could wrap my head and heart around and really respect. Unabashedly strong of faith, she chose life for a child she knew would have Down syndrome - not an easy decision in this day of all too convenient "options" for expectant mothers. I have 5 children, and my own journey with my two special needs boys and the struggles we dealt with endeared me even more to this remarkable woman. I knew some of the challenges she would face, but also knew through my own experience this would make her stronger. It wasn't long before the rest of the world would come to know this as well.

My excitement regarding the surprise early Alaskan morning announcement of Sarah Palin as John McCain's running mate was quickly changed to confusion, then sadness, then finally anger and frustration. I didn't understand the attacks against this woman, especially by some in Alaska. I can only surmise, stepping back and looking through the prism of time, that those who continue to vehemently rail against her have not taken the time to even listen to what she has to say.

Alaskans, I am here to tell you that Sarah Palin is the real deal. We live in a difficult time, where information is so readily available and yet it is up to the individual, now more than ever, to be diligent in regard to where they get this information. In a time when media and political collusion can lead to corruption, Sarah stands as a true patriot with a servant's heart. She desires only to see that the Great Land and our great country stand on a solid foundation. The constitutional principles that this great state and this great nation were founded upon are the very rock upon which she stands. Her faith in God, her love of her family, this state and its people, and her moral compass will not allow her to fall into the trap that has swallowed so many of our "leaders." I support her because she is true to herself, to the people of Alaska, and to the people of this country. My hope is that through this site, you might realize what I and so many Alaskans who support Sarah Palin already do - she is a leader whom we can all stand firm in knowing will do what is right for Alaska and this country, no matter her future calling.
