Sarah Palin, Friend of Israel

There were several huge stories in the news last week, but none were more alarming than President Obama’s announcement that Israel should return to the pre-1967 Israel-Palestine Border. Does he really believe that the Palestinians would ever stop fighting the Jews? The Washington Examiner reports that: "The very creation of the state of Israel is known among Palestinians as the 'Nakhba,' which means 'catastrophe.'" They will never stop until the Jewish people are destroyed. Israel is currently surrounded by enemies in unstable countries. Governments are collapsing around them and they are the only source of stability in the region. Our Nation needs to have their back now more than ever.

In the 5 minutes it took Obama to read his teleprompter, he undid over 30 years of progress accomplished towards achieving Middle East peace. Obama is clearly no friend of Israel. Before 1967, Jewish people were forbidden access to their holiest site, the Western Wall in Jerusalem’s Old City.

Benjamin Netanyahu, in his recent trip to the White House, rejected Obama's position saying a retreat to the 1967 borders would leave segments of Israel's population “indefensible.” "We cannot go back to those indefensible lines," said Netanyahu. He also said Washington shouldn't walk back from Bush's 'assurances' not to force such an agreement upon Israel. "History will not give the Jewish people another chance," Netanyahu said.

We are a country that supposed to be fighting against terrorism yet our own President implied support to two terrorist organizations, Hamas and Fatah. It is my hope that his words are incompetent and not deliberate. I never thought in the history of our nation, one where we “do not negotiate with terrorists,” that we would be on the opposite side of that statement. Israel does not negotiate with terrorists and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made that distinctly clear this week. As a staunch ally, we should be on the same side.

Sarah Palin is a leader that has always stood firmly with Israel. This past March, she reaffirmed her support with a visit to the country. She and Todd had the honor of attending a dinner with Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife.

"Israel is absolutely beautiful and it is overwhelming to see and touch the cornerstone of our faith and I am so grateful to get to be here," Palin told reporters. "I'm very thankful to know that the Israeli and American link will grow in strength as we seek peace along with you," Palin said.

"As Israel makes concessions (and is still criticized by the Obama Administration), Arab leaders are just sitting back waiting for the White House to further pressure Israel. The Obama Administration needs to open its eyes and recognize that it is only Iran and her terrorist allies that benefit from this manufactured Israeli controversy," Palin said in a Facebook post last year.

Obama's demand that Israel return to its 1967 borders has made the situation in the Middle East even more unstable. We need leaders now that will stand behind Israel and stand up to terrorism and its organizations. His Middle East policies have been nothing short of disastrous. Thank God Sarah Palin has a platform to let Israel know that she does have friends who have her back in America.
